    Dr. Rowan Chapman is a partner at Mohr Davidow Venture Capital firm. She is a board member of Sequenta and VitaPath Genetics, as well as a board observer at Artemis Health, HealthTap, Pacific Biosciences, Adamas Pharmaceuticals, CardioDx, and Tethys Bioscience.
    Dr. Rowan Chapman was also a postdoctoral fellow at UCSF, as well as at the MRC-Laboratory of Molecular Biology at Cambridge. She holds a Ph.D. in cellular and molecular biology from the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge University. She likes to point out that she sequenced by hand in the dark ages prior to any genome sequencing or access to automated technologies, and never wants to pour a sequencing gel again!

Are you a PhD or Postdoc with an interest in the business side of science? JoAnne Starr, former Associate Director at the MBA Career Center at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and current Assistant Dean of MBA Programs at the Rady School of Management, UC San Diego, will present information about the value of MBA degrees for people who are also science PhD's.  She will discuss the kinds of job titles and career progressions available for PhD/MBA scientists, and will provide examples of MBA curriculum options that might be attractive for PhD's.  Finally, Ms. Starr will present a frank discussion about admissions practices, program rankings, and factors to consider when considering one type of MBA program over another.

The Business Club at UCSF hosts a series of regular meetings with seminars by guest speakers from each of these fields as well as case interview preparation sessions.

All students and postdocs at UCSF are welcome to attend!
